Bug-N-Boo Jaeger Honey Bee Apriary

BugnBoo_Honey_inside_small.jpgI was first introduced into beekeeping when I was 12 years old by my father. We started off with a few hives. We raised the hives up from a fresh package of honeybees into mature colonies which produced a surplus honey crop that we could harvest. I had the most fun doing that part. Slicing open the freshly capped honey comb and spinning out the honey was definitely a sticky job but it was a memory that I will never forget. Just my father and I working together, laughing and having a great time. Ever since then I have been fascinated with beekeeping. The honey bee plays such an important role in our lives. After a few years, we lost our colonies due to black bears, so we decided to take a break from beekeeping. A couple years later I came across a beekeeping catalog. I looked through it and started thinking back to all the good times I had with my father raising bees. So I called him up and told him that I wanted to start beekeeping again, and he said when you wanna start? I have two young girls who are both interested in helping out! I am so great full for my father. He has taught me so much on raising bees and now I can teach my little ones how to raise bees!
