Just minutes south of the village of Dansville is Stony Brook State Park. This majestic park features hiking paths, an amazing playground area, waterfalls through out, vast picnicing areas as well as so much more.  Seasonal camping is also available.

 

Recreation:

 

Activities available at Stony Brook Park include hiking, hunting, tennis, and cross-country skiing. The park has several stunning waterfalls to visit & as well as numerous trails. The park also has a large modern playground located next to the Main Entrance's parking lot, before the water and hiking trails.

Camping at the Park:


Camping at Stony Brook State Park has always been an annual experience for many.  Rustic cabins are now available at Stony Brook State Park! Offering 4-person cabins - a perfect solution for campers who like tents & cabins. Offer protection from theIMG_7963.jpg elements, but no electricity or water.


Campsites with restrooms and showers, group camping areas, food concessions, a nature trail, picnic tables and pavilions, a playground, playing fields, and tennis courts make this a park full of appealing amenities. Firewood is available locally. The park also contains a dumping station.


Stony Brook State Park swimming area is closed. Campers may use the North swimming pool at Letchworth State Park. Campers may enter the park for free with their camping permit, but the pool fee is $2 for adults and $1 for children. The pool is open from late June to Labor Day and is located 20 miles from Stony Brook.

The terrain of Stony Brook State Park creates an excellent opportunity for hiking.  The park comprises of hilly woodlands with a deep gorge that includes cliffs overlooking three waterfalls. Visitors can hike a variety of trails including going around the entire gorge area.
